Soft deletion
Common questions this page answers:
- What is soft deletion in Bailo?
- Can I recover a deleted model or file?
- Is deletion permanent?
Soft deletion is how Bailo safely removes models and files without immediately destroying them behind the scenes.
From a user point of view, a soft-deleted item should be considered deleted.
What you will see
From a user's perspective, soft-deleted items are completely removed from the interface:
- It disappears from the Marketplace and search
- It can no longer be accessed, downloaded, or used
- It does not appear in model pages, releases, or files lists
For everyday use, there is no difference between soft deletion and permanent deletion.
Why Bailo uses soft deletion
Soft deletion helps Bailo:
- Prevent accidental data loss
- Support auditing and governance requirements
- Allow recovery in extremely rare, exceptional cases
This approach protects the platform, not individual workflows.
About recovery
Recovery is not a standard feature and should not be relied upon.
Soft deletion does not mean undo.
While platform administrators may technically be able to restore a deleted item, this is:
- Not a standard feature
- Not guaranteed
- Only considered in exceptional circumstances
Users should not rely on recovery and should avoid requesting restoration after deletion.
What you should do before deleting
Check that the item is no longer needed before proceeding with deletion:
- Whether it is still used by any releases
- Whether other users depend on it
- Whether you may need it in the future
If in doubt, consider keeping the item or creating a new version instead.
Key takeaway
Treat deleted items as permanently gone.
